Istanbul Modern Sanat Müzesi and Nusretiye Camii, Tophane, Beyoğlu, Istanbul. 19-1-2007, 15:02.
As I got off the car to visit the Andre Kertesz exhibit at the Istanbul Museum of Modern Art (Istanbul Modern), I was immediately drawn by the contrast between the old and the contemporary, which we so often encounter in this city. The posters in the foreground are part of Istanbul Modern and they reflect images from the 21st century. In the back and overlooking the modern, we see Nusretiye Camii dating from the 19th century. This photograph was taken at exactly the time we lost Hrant Dink.
