Statue of St. John Nepomucene (Figura św. Jana Nepomucena), Old Market Square (Stary Rynek), Poznań, Wielkopolskie, Poland. 4-9-2007, 19:36.

One of the statues in the Old Market Square belongs to John Nepomucene (or John of Nepomuk, Czech: Jan Nepomucký), the national saint of the Czech Republic, who lived between 1345–March 20, 1393. St. Nepomucene was drowned in the Vltava River at the behest of Wenceslaus, King of Romans and King of Bohemia. Because of the manner of his death, he is considered a protector from floods.

The building immediately left of the statue is No. 50, a reconstructed late-Gothic building, on whose wall is a plaque showing the maximum water level during the city's worst ever flood in 1736.
