Rumeli Hisarı, Sarıyer, Istanbul. April 2014.

The Rumeli Fortress (TR: Rumeli Hisarı) was built between 1451-1452 by the Ottoman Sultan Mehmet II. (the Conquerer) to control the sea traffic on the Strait of Istanbul and prevent European naval aid (esp. Genoese) from reaching Constantinople during the Turkish siege in 1453.
